Nigel had a 25 year career in social housing including 14 years at senior management level. As well as direct experience of helping individual and families in need, he also gained a huge amount of experience in business management and people management.

He pivoted away from social housing in 2008 to form his own business providing leadership and management coaching for senior and middle managers in the public sector.

Having in a very real sense retired from social housing, Nigel experienced the challenges of transitioning which have been at the heart of the retirement coaching which he began in 2019.

He brings that practical awareness and understanding of the issues people face in retirement to his coaching to help people recognise and tackle their challenges and to design a positive future for themselves.

Nigel believes that he can use his life and work experience to help others face their transition challenges and create for themselves a fulfilling retirement.

Outside work, Nigel has a very full life, learning French, taking care of his 5 year old granddaughter, walking for fitness and pleasure, spending time in France and whisky appreciation.

Anne Cannings

Jane has been coaching since 2006, specialising in MidLife Transitions since 2018. Her coaching focuses on helping people through the various changes that hit us in our 50s and 60s – children leaving home, changing family relationships and, in particular, the challenges of changing occupation or stopping paid word altogether.

Her background includes over 30 years in project management training, consulting and mentoring, which means that she has a wide experience of change within businesses. She has always been interested in how people respond to the challenges that change brings, and what can make it a positive experience.

Having been through her own professional transition in her late 50s, Jane now brings that wealth of practical knowledge and experience to her work. She uses a variety of tools and techniques to help her clients see what’s possible on the other side of change and to support them while they work towards achieving it.

Outside her coaching, Jane pursues her own goals of staying fit, travelling, improving her Spanish and taking up new activities whenever she can – from archery to zip-wiring!

During this time Anne has published several articles and developed a variety of career transition materials which she uses as part of her client work.

She loves variety and has worked with public bodies, scientific, engineering and IT companies, banking, professional services, private healthcare, local authorities, retail, not-for-profit organisations, NHS Trusts, housing associations and the emergency services.

Anne believes we are never finished with personal learning and encourages others to improve their situation. She enjoys seeing clients develop their horizons, take control of their actions and experience joy in what the future may hold.

Anne spent many years managing and directing amateur dramatics and enjoys dragging the dog through the Surrey countryside. She likes to live by her values so is always learning something new or creative. Her latest pursuit is getting messy with clay; she has yet to master throwing on a wheel and is probably a few years’ off appearing on the Pottery Throwdown!

Nigel Pacey

“Using a combination of open questions, which allowed me time and space to explore my own thoughts and preferences, together with information and suggestions based on the experience of other people in retirement, it led me to have a much clearer vision about what my retirement could be like and what I need to do to prepare for it”
